The Hashfootery Cup 2012/2013

This season we are running a knockout tournament based on your hashfootery predictions - our very own FA Cup, if you like. The knockout tournament uses your scoring from our main competition, so you don't need to do anything extra to take part. The winner of each head-to-head pairing will be decided on points scored over a calendar month and will progress to the next round.

The winner will receive an impressively unique trophy, pictured right.

• Round 1 (round of 128) - November 2012
• Round 2 (round of 64) - December 2012
• Round 3 (round of 32) - January 2013
• Round 4 (round of 16) - February 2013
• Quarter finals - March 2013
• Semi finals - April 2013
• The final - May 2013

The Draw

1. This season's draw takes place on Thursday 1 November 2012 at approximately 10am.
2. Hashfooterers who have entered 2 or more predictions during August-October 2012 will qualify to be entered into the draw.
3. Unlike televised football draws, there will be no ball bags. The Hashfootery draw uses a pseudo-random number generator to decide the order of pairings.
4. The number of qualifying hashfooterers is likely to be less than 128, so some will draw a "bye" into Round 2.
5. One single open draw determines the order of pairings for all rounds in the knockout.

In the event of a tie...

1. the player with the greater number of "3 pointers" in the current month is deemed the winner;
2. if still tied, the player with more points from the previous month is deemed the winner;
3. if still tied, the player with the greater number of "3 pointers" in the previous month is deemed the winner;
4. if still tied, repeat these same tie-breakers for each month before until a winner can be declared
5. in the event that a winner cannot be determined, a decision will be made by @downwithdesign, @kirstieh and @gerrymulvenna
